Brac is the third largest island in the Adriatic and the largest in Dalmatia. It boasts the highest mountain in the Adriatic, Vidova Gora and has a wide range of scenery and vegetatian ranging from pine forests to olive groves and vineyards.

 

From its early days as the supplier of marble for the Emperor Diocletian's palace at Split; through the years as an exporter of wine, herbs and fish; up to the present time as one of the most appealing toursist destinations of the Adriatic there are a wealth of historic sites which chart the island's development over the centuries.

 

 

 

 

  

 

Although the island still exports its fabulous marble across the world (in recent times it has been used in places as diverse as the Vatican, the Whitehouse and Liverpool Cathedral) it is now best known as a tourist destination.

 

Brac is a 45 minute journey on the ferryboat from Split. The harbour town of Supetar is also the capital of the island and forms a perfect setting for family holidays. On the south side of the island is the renouned resort of Bol with its world famous beach "Zlatni Rat".
